Cheat Codes album is due Aug 12th
From one of the most anticipated albums in recent history, dynamic duo Danger Mouse & Black Thought release their summer jam “Because” featuring Joey Bada$$, Russ, and Dylan Cartlidge. It’s the second track to be released from their collaborative debut album, Cheat Codes, due August 12th via BMG.
Packed with irresistible cyphers, “Because” is yet another prime example of the unmistakable chemistry between Danger Mouse and Black Thought, following the highly lauded release of debut single “No Gold Teeth.”
An early contender for song of the summer, “Because” cuts deeper still with hypnotic, dextrous lines courtesy of Joey Bada$$ and Russ, while Danger Mouse’s signature retro-infused beats provide a slinky slow-burning foundation perfectly complemented and completed by Black Thought’s urgent politically charged flow, and — no, that’s not a sample — an undeniable vocal hook by Dylan Cartlidge.
Cheat Codes marks Danger Mouse’s first hip hop album since his Dangerdoom collaboration with the late, great MF Doom, and follows Black Thought’s pioneering output with The Roots and critically acclaimed solo trilogy, Streams Of Thought. The album also features collaborations with A$AP Rocky, Run The Jewels, MF Doom, Michael Kiwanuka, Raekwon and Conway the Machine.
