This will be Rucker’s first dramatic role

GRAMMY Award-winning country music singer/songwriter Darius Rucker will showcase another talent this week as he makes a guest appearance on Hawaii Five-0. As originally reported by Entertainment Weekly, Rucker will play the role of bomb maker and notorious criminal Desmond Abati in the episode airing this Friday, February 24th at 9 pm ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.

“This was an amazing opportunity and, for me, one that challenged me in a different way than being in the studio or on stage does,” shares Rucker. “I can’t wait to see the full episode alongside fans this Friday!”

In the episode entitled “E mālama pono,” Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and Danny Williams (Scott Caan) finally track down the missing uranium, which has been used to build a bomb located in the middle of the jungle. Now, they must carefully extract the unstable explosive through treacherous terrain before it detonates.

While it’s not the first time Rucker has showcased his acting chops, playing international criminal Desmond Abati does mark his first time tackling a dramatic role. Rucker’s previous acting credits include a role in the 2001 hit film Shallow Hal as well as playing Jesus in an episode of CMT’s Still the King alongside Billy Ray Cyrus.
