David Crosby, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills support Neil Young Spotify dispute

Neil Young removed music from platform last week

David Crosby, Graham Nash, and Stephen Stills have requested that their labels remove their collective recordings from Spotify. In solidarity with their bandmate, Neil Young, and in support of stopping harmful misinformation about COVID, they have decided to remove their records from the streaming platform including the recordings of CSNY, CSN, and CN, as well as Crosby’s and Stills’ solo projects. Nash has already begun the process to take down his solo recordings.

In a unified statement, the band members commented, “We support Neil and we agree with him that there is dangerous disinformation being aired on Spotify’s Joe Rogan podcast. While we always value alternate points of view, knowingly spreading disinformation during this global pandemic has deadly consequences. Until real action is taken to show that a concern for humanity must be balanced with commerce, we don’t want our music – or the music we made together – to be on the same platform.”

Last week, Young removed his music Spotify following an ultimatum from the singer regarding “misinformation” on Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. On January 24th, Young shared an open letter to his team demanding the streaming giant remove either his music of Rogan’s podcast, which has been under fire for the “spread of misinformation” regarding the COVID-19 vaccines.

“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines — potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” he wrote earlier this week.

Spotify said it would honor Young’s request and remove his music by the end of the week. It’s since been removed from the platform.

Joni Mitchell has also followed suit, standing by Young.

Rogan apologized over the weekend stating he would “do better” when it comes to guest ideology.
