Obsessed will feature some of Warren’s biggest hits

Pop superstar songwriter Diane Warren’s songs are being developed into a Broadway musical called Obsessed, The Story of Diane Warren…So Far. Two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro is penning the script while Olivier Award winner and 3x Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall is set to direct. This is the second production the pair announced within the last two weeks as they’ve teamed with Universal Music Group Theatrical for a Frank Sinatra musical currently in the works.

“Broadway is a new chapter for me and to work with such amazing artists like Kathleen Marshall and Joe DiPietro makes me excited to see where this will lead,” Warren shares about the project.

Warren’s entire 2,000 song catalog has been optioned to be incorporated into the musical. Notable hits such as “If I Could Turn Back Time” made famous by Cher, “Because You Love Me” by Celine Dion, “How Do I Live” by LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood, “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith, and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship are among the hits to be included. The musical will also feature several new songs penned by the Grammy, Golden Globe and Emmy winning songwriter.

A private presentation of Obsessed will be held this month in New York with an opening date set for 2023.

One of modern music’s most celebrated songwriters, Warren has penned nine No. 1 and 32 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and is tied for having written the most No. 1 songs as a sole writer in Billboard history. She has received 13 Academy Award nominations, is a Grammy winner with 15 nominations, Emmy winner and 2x Golden Globe award winner whose songs have been featured in more than 100 motion pictures. Earlier this year, Warren received an Honorary Oscar.
