Disney announces new Beatles ‘Get Back’ physical release date

The set will be issued this summer

Acclaimed director Peter Jackson’s stunning docu-series The Beatles: Get Back will now be available to own on a Blu-ray Collector’s Set and DVD on July 12th via Walt Disney Studios. The series offers unprecedented access to the world’s most iconic band as they prepare to record the Let It Be album.

The entire 468 minute docu-series is spread across three Blu-ray Discs and three DVDs. Part One takes fans inside Twickenham Film Studios where the band gathers to rehearse for a planned concert. Part Two documents the start of the recording sessions at Apple Studios, continued rehearsals and the mood lifting. Part Three closes with The Beatles performing on the rooftop of their Apple offices.

The Blu-ray will include English Dolby Atmos, English 7.1 PCM, English 2.0 PCM, and 2.0 English Descriptive Audio while the DVD will features English 5.1, English 2.0 Dolby Digital, and 2.0 English Descriptive Audio tracks. Both include English SDH, Spanish and French subtitles.

The Blu-ray and DVD sets were originally scheduled for a February 8th release but were delayed after the studio noticed an audio glitch that had to be corrected. No 4K release or bonus features have been announced.

A winner at both the Producers Guild of America and American Cinema Editors Awards, The Beatles: Get Back is also Certified-Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directed by Peter Jackson, The Beatles: Get Back is a three-part documentary series that takes audiences back in time to the band’s intimate recording sessions. The documentary showcases the warmth, camaraderie and creative genius that defined the legacy of the iconic foursome, and is compiled from 60 hours of unseen footage shot in January 1969 (under the supervision of Michael Lindsay-Hogg and his director of photography Tony Richmond) and more than 150 hours of unheard audio, all of which has been brilliantly restored. Also featured – for the first time in its entirety – is The Beatles’ last live performance as a group: the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row, as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band’s final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be.
