The Drive In is a Sell Out. This past weekend country superstar Brad Paisley performed with his full tour set up for his first in-person live music concert since mid March. He headlined the first ever Live Nation drive-in concert series, and sold out all three stops in St. Louis, Nashville and Indianapolis. The 90 minute concert was filled with career hits such as “Mud on the Tires,” “American Saturday Night,” as well as his current single and fan favorite, “No I In Beer.” At the end of his first show Paisley said, quote “I hope we’ve given you a memory.”
Grammy-winning superstar Pitbull has teamed with LiveXLive Media, Inc. — a global platform for live streaming and on-demand content — for a multi-year partnership. The deal will see the rapper producing and distributing a series of Pay-Per-View live stream concerts, as well as launching his first video podcast which will air on LiveXLive’s recently-acquired podcasting platform – PodcastOne.
Country megastar Luke Combs made history once again this week as the first artist ever to have their first two studio albums spend 25 weeks or more at Number 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart — breaking Taylor Swift’s previously held record at 24 weeks. The achievement comes as his acclaimed record, “What You See Is What You Get,” once again tops the chart this week, while his 2017 debut, “This One’s For You,” has spent 50 non-consecutive weeks in the top spot–tying the record for the longest reign atop the chart with Shania Twain’s “Come On Over” in 1997.

Metallica has announced the release of its S&M2 shows with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra from 2019. It’s the 20th anniversary of the original S&M shows and will be released on a variety of formats on August 28th, including a Super Deluxe Box Set featuring bonus items such as guitar pics and sheet music. Five hundred of the sets will include sheet music the symphony used during the shows signed by the band.
Fans of Reba McEntire have something to look forward to on September 11th. Her 1990 seminal album Rumor Has It will see a 30th anniversary release. Not many details are known until it’s officially announced, but a listing at Walmart shows an exclusive orange vinyl will be available with a bonus track of “Fancy” recorded live from her 2017 Ryman Auditorium performances.
The Doors’ Robby Krieger will release his seventh studio album, The Ritual Begins at Sundown, on August 14th via The Players Club. The project was set to be released in April, but delayed due to COVID-19. The album reunites Krieger with his longtime producer, Frank Zappa bassist Arthur Barrow, who recruited Zappa alumni for the musicians. The instrumental jazz album will be available on CD and colored vinyl.
SiriusXM launched its latest collection of exclusive radio channels dedicated to iconic musicians starting this past Wednesday, July 15th. SiriusXM’s presents brand new channels from Beastie Boys, Bob Marley, Coldplay, Michael Jackson and Queen, plus the return of The Prince Channel, that will be available through August 13th on the SiriusXM app, internet connected devices and smart speakers in your home.
Finally this week, more socially distanced concerts are coming to music fans across the country. FanTracks, the new live streaming and fan engagement platform, is hosting its first concert with storied multi-platinum British hard rock group Bush tonight (Saturday, July 18th) starting at 9 pm ET. The band will play a 70-minute set in a professional studio to celebrate their first album release in two years, The Kingdom. Fans can pre-register for the show via FanTracks.
And Third Eye Blind is getting into the drive-in game. After a wildly successful beginning run in June and an equally successful July run thus far, the founders of SoCal favorites Boots & Brews Country Music Festival and the Winter Wine Walk are preparing their stage at the Ventura County Fairgrounds to host these rock heavyweights of “Jumper” and “Never Let You Go” fame on July 25th. The concert starts at 8 pm, with the first cars allowed in at 6:30 pm. The stage is four-sided for optimum viewing.
