Legendary East Coast concert promoter Ron Delsener is the subject of a new documentary called Ron Delsener Presents. The film premiered in Manhattan on May 30th and is now available on the West Coast. Produced by RadicalMedia and distributed by Abramorama, Jake Sumner’s feature-length documentary follows the most influential concert promoter in New York, a visionary who has had a significant on the live music business for the past six decades. In a career spanning nearly 60 years, concert promoter and impresario Ron Delsener has been behind virtually every major contemporary music concert in New York City. From The Beatles at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, to bringing David Bowie to Carnegie Hall and Patti Smith to the Palladium, to somehow convincing Simon and Garfunkel to come back together to play the biggest concert ever in Central Park, Ron Delsener was behind it all. Now, at almost 89 years old, Ron’s still in the game, working in the now-multi-billion industry he helped to create. Sure, he could stop – he maybe even should. But Ron doesn’t know how.
Jake Sumner, son of Sting, is the award-winning director of the acclaimed short documentaries Fantastic Man: Who is William Onyeabor?, Channel 4’s I Was There When House Took Over The World, and 2019’s Bob of the Park, which won the Grand Jury Prize at DOC NYC. Other films include multiple film collaborations with contemporary artist Kaws, 2015’s The Plastic Age, featuring Pharrell Williams, and Magic Hats, which was featured in Banksy’s large scale art project Dismaland. Ron Delsener Presents is his first feature documentary.
