Eddie Money cancels 2019 shows due to pneumonia

Money will return to the road in 2020

Eddie Money has canceled all remaining 2019 shows after catching pneumonia following heart surgery. TMZ reports that the minor heart surgery he went under in May went well, but developed pneumonia afterward, putting the rocker out of commission for the rest of the year.

Money suffered through Memorial Day concerts with shortness of breath before undergoing heart valve surgery. He was expected to return to the road in mid-June, but instead will return in 2020 to promote his first new album in 15 years, Brand New Day, scheduled for July 19th on his own Money Music.

“This is my first studio album in over 15 years,” Money exclaims, “I’m so happy with the record – I think it’s one of the best albums I’ve ever made! And I’m really thrilled with the title tune. ’Brand New Day’ is a great song among all the other incredible songs on the record. It’s an autobiographical tune. It’s going to be a fantastic album!”

The iconic rocker utilizes the album format to release a Money version of an autobiography. “Man, I’ve been doing this all of my life, I just thought it made so much sense you know?” The song “Brand New Day” serves as the index to the rest of the album, 11 very personal tracks that can be interpreted as an insight into his rock ‘n’ roll life and a paean to friends now gone.

Eddie Money and his talented family are the focus of AXS TV’s popular reality series, Real Money, which is in its second season on Sunday nights at 8:30 pm ET. Real Money follows the daily lives of Money, his wife, and their five children, both at home and on the road, and is as open and honest as it is heartfelt and hilarious.
