Concert will benefit MusiCares
Stars are lining up to pay tribute to rocker Eddie Money. Sammy Hagar, Rick Springfield, George Thorogood, John Waite, Mickey Thomas and other special guests will appear at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on Thursday, February 20th for an all-star Eddie Money tribute concert.
Louie Anderson will host the special event with all proceeds benefiting MusiCares. General public on sale starts on Thursday, January 9th at 10 am PST via Ticketmaster.
Money died in September 2019 following complications of esophageal cancer. The “Two Tickets To Paradise” singer received the diagnosis last fall while taping the second season of his popular AXS TV reality series, Real Money. The cancer started in Money’s esophagus but has spread to other parts of his body.
“I thought I was going in for a check-up and [the doctor] told me I have cancer,” Money says in a show clip. “We found out that I had cancer and that it was stage four and that it was in my liver and my lymph nodes and a little bit in my stomach… It hit me really, really hard.”
Money shared the announcement one month before passing. During that time, he had been recuperating from complications involving a heart valve procedure performed in June. The heart issue was a condition unrelated to his cancer.
With a career spanning over 40 years, the 70-year-old Money had long-established himself as one of rock’s most beloved entertainers. After leaving his native Brooklyn for the Berkeley music scene in the 1970’s, Money quickly rose to fame on the strength of a slew of successful albums and Top 40 hits including “Two Tickets To Paradise,” “Take Me Home Tonight,” “Shakin’,” “Think I’m In Love,” “Baby Hold On,” and many more.
