Elektra to celebrate 75th anniversary with vinyl releases

Twenty titles encompass iconic albums spanning four decades

As part of Elektra Records’ 75th Anniversary celebration, Rhino Entertainment is releasing an extensive collection of iconic Elektra titles on vinyl. The series encompasses acclaimed albums released from the ‘60s through the ‘90s that underline the label’s era-defining, genre-defiant greatness.

Titles from the collection will be released each Friday in July, featuring groundbreaking, timeless works by trailblazers like The Doors, Love, The Stooges, Anita Baker, The Cars, The Afghan Whigs, and more. They will be available at participating brick-and-mortar stores nationally, with select titles also available at Rhino.com.

As a highlight of this special Elektra 75 collection, label founder Jac Holzman has assembled an album featuring Bob Dylan alongside other influential folk artists such as Fred Neil, Tom Paxton, and Judy Collins, entitled Dylan’s Circle. It will be available as a single LP and single CD on July 18th, highlighting the collaboration and competition between these legendary musicians and honoring the Greenwich Village music scene of the early 1960s.

Among the July 4th releases are Anita Baker’s Rapture on single LP black vinyl, Nanci Griffith’s Other Voices, Other Rooms on 2 LP black vinyl, The Stooges self-titled in high fidelity on 180-gram black vinyl, and Third Eye Blind’s debut on 2 LP grape vinyl. July 11th releases include The Cars’ self-titled in high fidelity on 180-gram black vinyl and Television’s Marquee Moon in high fidelity on 180-gram black vinyl. July 25th will see The Cars’ Shake It Up released on 180-gram black vinyl as part of the Rhino Reserve and The Doors’ Golden Doors 2 issued on purple vinyl with a direct-to-consumer 7-inch purple vinyl.
