“Shame” is the lead single from her second CD

Three-time Grammy-nominated and platinum-selling recording Elle King has become the only artist in Billboard history to top the Adult Pop Songs, Adult Alternative Songs (AAA), Alternative Songs and Country Airplay charts. The news comes as King scores her first No. 1 on the AAA charts with her single “Shame for a second consecutive week.

King’s breakthrough single “Ex’s & Oh’s” scored No. 1 on the Alternative Songs and Adult Pop Songs charts in 2015, while her Grammy-nominated and CMA-winning collaboration with Dierks Bentley “Different For Girls” rose to the top of the Country Airplay charts. She celebrated the record-breaking news with her fans on Instagram.

“Shame” is a fun, devilish track that embraces bad influences: “I can make you better babe, Come pray with me, Get saved with me….I’m a fire, just a spark under your halo.” Elle co-wrote “Shame” with Tim Pagnotta who produced the single. She debuted the track with an electrifying performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in August.

The No. 1 news follows King’s tour de force sets at Austin City Limits. Rolling Stone wrote of her set: “Elle King is a little bit country, a little bit rock n’ roll, but ultimately, she’s punk as fuck,” and The Austin American Statesman described the show: “Elle King leads with brass and sass… King’s a dominating singer backed by a ferocious horn-spiked big band….”

King will release her sophomore album, Shake The Spirit, featuring “Shame,” on Friday, October 19th via RCA Records. King wrote or co-wrote all songs on the 13 track album.
