Elton John ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ 40th anniversary reissues detailed

Elton John is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his 1973 seminal album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road with a multi-format reissue including a Super Deluxe five disc boxed set, a limited edition double yellow vinyl, deluxe two CD, HD Blu-ray Pure Audio and remastered single CD on March 25th in the United States and March 24th elsewhere.

The boxed set will contain four CDs and one DVD including a 2014 remaster of the album by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering from the original analog tapes on CD; a CD of album B-sides and bonus tracks including nine new cover versions of songs from the album performed by Ed Sheeran, Miguel featuring Wale, Hunter Hayes, The Band Perry, John Grant, Emeli Sande, Imelda May, Fall Out Boy and Zac Brown Band; a 2 CD recording of Elton Live At Hammersmith 1973 and Bryan Forbes’ 1973 film Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye To Norma Jean and Other Things on DVD. The set will also contain a 100 page illustrated hardback book packed with rare photos, memorabilia and a new essay containing interviews with Elton John and Bernie Taupin all housed in a beautiful presentation box.

The limited edition double vinyl will be pressed on heavyweight 180-gram yellow vinyl and will contain the original 17 track album remastered. The 2 CD Deluxe Edition will contain the original album remastered and the bonus CD of album b-sides and bonus tracks including a set of covers by some of today’s most exciting young artists. The HD Blu-ray Pure Audio disc will feature the original album’s 17 tracks remastered and remixed in surround and stereo up to 192 kHz/24Bit. The single CD reissue will contain only the original album’s 17 tracks remastered.
