Chicago is prepping a massive Carnegie Hall reissue
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Chicago became the first non-classical group to perform six nights in a row at Carnegie Hall 50 years ago, and is prepping to release the complete eight-show run in its entirety for the first time. Founding member and trumpeter Lee Loughnane and engineer Tim Jessup spent nearly a year meticulously going through more than 40 concert tapes at Loughnane’s new studio in Arizona to remaster each concert.
Loughnane chats with Buddy Iahn & Matt Bailey about the process involved in putting this project together the box set. Chicago at Carnegie Hall Complete will be available on September 10th exclusively at Rhino.com. There may even be a separate vinyl project involving one of the shows in the future.
We also discuss Chicago’s return to the road after spending time off due to the pandemic and the band’s legacy.
