The film showcases the legendary band’s life

Twentieth Century Fox has released the first trailer to the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. The film features a nearly unknown cast portraying one of classic rock’s most popular bands with Rami Malek starring as lead vocalist Freddie Mercury. Joining Malek are Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Aiden Gillen, Tom Hollander and Mike Myers.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music, and the extraordinary Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet.

The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. In the process, cementing the legacy of a band that were always more like a family, and who continue to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

In the 90 second trailer, Malek plays a convincing Mercury with his stage presence and wit. “It goes on forever, six bloody minutes,” claims a record exec about the title track.

“I pity your wife if you think six minutes is forever,” quips Mercury.

Many fans have wondered if the film would ever see the light of day after numerous setbacks. Sacha Baron Cohen was originally attached to play Mercury, but backed out due to “creative differences” with the band, who have been involved with the production from the beginning. Original reports indicated that the surviving Queen members wanted a PG movie about the band instead of Cohen’s gritty R-rated tell all centered around Mercury. As of press time, the film hasn’t been rated.

Bohemian Rhapsody hits theaters everywhere November 2nd. The studio has also set up a website to give fans a chance to hear their voice singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the film. Fans will need to access the website via their mobile for the full experience.
