The NFL season is only two steps away from the Super Bowl LV, with the quarter finals being scheduled for this weekend.

With one exception, all the main favorites are still competing for the championship. The big surprise of the first round was the defeating of Pittsburgh Steelers by the Cleveland Browns, 37-48.

The Steelers had an incredible start of season, and they were the second favorites at winning the Super Bowl, a few weeks ago. According to the Unibet Odds Indiana, the Kansas City Chiefs, who will play the Browns in the Divisional playoffs, are the main favorites, with +205 odds at winning the Super Bowl for the second time in a row. Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl 31-20 against the San Francisco 49ers.

The second odds are for the Green Bay Packers, with +375. They will take on the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional playoffs.

Also, the most likely final will be the Chiefs – Packers, obviously. The odds for a final won by the Chiefs against the Packers are +525, while a final won by the Green Bay team against the Chiefs has +750 odds.

But this will not be the only major event which will take place on February 7th, at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The overall sporting show come with the halftime music performance.

The halftime break is usually between 10 and 15 minutes, but at the Super Bowl the musical performance alone is about 13 to 15 minutes. Canadian artist The Weeknd will be the protagonist of the show, and he has some remarkable songs, like “Call Out My Name” and “Blinding Lights”.

But while he is only the last on an incredible list of singers that performed at a Super Bowl, there are also many stars who refused to sing at the halftime shows.

Prince in 2007, U2 in 2002, Beyonce and Destiny’s Child in 2013, Madonna in 2012, and Aerosmith, Britney Spears, ‘NSYNC, Nelly and Mary J Blige in 2001 are considered to be the best ever halftime performances. Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Bruno Mars are some other artists featuring in the show in the past 30 years.

But who rejected this incredible opportunity? Here are five of them:

  • Adele – Super Bowl LI (February 5, 2017)

The British star addressed the rumors of a Super Bowl 2017 halftime performance, in August 2016. “First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl. I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really – I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no”, she said. And that was enough.

  • Rihanna – Super Bowl LIII (February 3, 2019)

The “We Found Love” and “Diamonds” singer turned down to be the headline of the Super Bowl edition two years ago in solidarity with 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

  • Jay-Z – All of Super Bowl, especially Super Bowl LIII

The artist reportedly took a stand similar to that of Rihanna’s. In a song with Beyonce, he says that “I said no to the Super Bowl: You need me, I don’t need you. Every night we in the End Zone, tell the NFL we in stadiums too”. The song was released in the summer before Super Bowl LIII.

  • Metallica – Super Bowl 50 (February 7, 2016)

The rock band had a similar approach to Adele’s. They said that the halftime show of the Super Bowl is not quite their kind of event. So, they turned down the invitation for the 50th edition of the Super Bowl, which took place in San Francisco. Instead, Coldplay were the headliner for that show.

  • OutKast – Super Bowl XXXIX (February 6, 2005)

The band refused to sing at the show back in 2005 because their limited time on the stage wasn’t what they felt comfortable with. That would have meant to shorten their songs, so they said no. Paul McCartney performed at that edition.
