Guitarist Chris Shiflett confirms the news
Foo Fighters fans who have been anxiously awaiting for the band’s triumphant return won’t have to wait much longer. Guitarist Chris Shiflett has confirmed the band are currently working on a new record. Rolling Stone recently caught up with the Foo lead guitarist at a show in San Luis Obispo, CA for his side project, Chris Shiflett and the Dead Peasants, where Shiflett gave some exciting news about his main band.
“We actually just started making a new Foo Fighters record within the last few weeks. We’ve started rehearsing.”
Of course, it was last October when frontman Dave Grohl announced on the band’s Facebook page that the band was going on a long hiatus as he wasn’t sure when they’d perform together again.
Shiflett stated he, along with Grohl, knew the band would be back. He just wasn’t anticipating this soon.
“I knew we weren’t done, but I just thought it’d be a little longer. But whatever – it’s good. It’s good getting back to work.”
Since the hiatus, Grohl released his Sound City documentary while Chris Shiflett and the Dead Peasants recorded a cover album of country honk tonk songs called All Hat and No Cattle, featuring the music of Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings, and have been playing the club and bar scene in support of it. The disc, released on July 30th, can be purchased on CD and vinyl.
