Frank Sinatra statue being unveiled in New Jersey

City of Hoboken unveils statue

Frank Sinatra’s 106th birthday is being celebrated today (Dec 12th) by unveiling a statue in his hometown of Hoboken, NJ. The statue is courtesy of Carolyn Palmer, who has created statues of Lucille Ball, Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt and several popes. The design is modeled after a 45 year old Sinatra leaning on a lamp post.

Nancy Sinatra and other family will be attending the celebration at 1 pm ET along the city’s waterfront as the City of Hoboken Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla unveils the six foot tall bronze statue at Sinatra Park Amphitheater. Comedian Joe Piscopo, who is well known for his Sinatra impersonation on SNL, will emcee the ceremony which also includes a performance by the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts.

Fans will also be gathering at Patsy’s Restaurant in Manhattan with Piscopo and Dean Martin’s daughter Deana to sing New York New York with a giant birthday cake. The event takes place at 6 pm ET tonight (Dec 12th) at Sinatra’s favorite restaurant at 236 West 36th Street in Manhattan. Also attending are Actor Chazz Palminteri, John Catsmatedis and other Sinatra fans, friends and family.
