Brooks and Elvis Presley go back and forth with album sales numbers
Garth Brooks is once again the number one selling solo artist in US history. His ninth studio album, Man Against Machine, has been certified platinum by the RIAA. Man Against Machine was released on November 11th by Sony/RCA. It debuted at #1 on the country charts where it remained for six non-consecutive weeks.
Brooks’ total album sales are now 135 million, surpassing Elvis Presley’s 134.5 million. He first surpassed Presley in album sales in 2000 and the pair have been swapping positions ever since.
Brooks appeared on all four hours of NBC Today Show on Thursday (Jan 8th) where he was presented a plaque for the feat.
His current single “Mom” has taken social media by storm and is currently #38 on the country charts.
