52 TOTAL SONGS INCLUDING 19 NEW, UNRELEASED OR DEMO VERSIONS
Garth Brooks has announced details of his anthology collection that he’s teased all year on his Facebook Live series Inside Studio G.ย Part one of what is going to be a massive five part anthology comes November 14th. Part 1, The First Five Years, is a detailed look at the first five years of his career told by Brooks himself and those involved with the creating, recording, and promotion of the first five albums. The book also comes with five CDs taking fans inside the beginning of his career and modern country music right there in Brooks’ inner circle. The set is also available in as a Limited First Edition pressing with a silver slipcover.
You are there as โThe Thunder Rollsโ is recorded and about to be released by another artist. When “Friends in Low Places” and โThe Danceโ are almost never recorded at all! For the first time ever, Brooks is taking fans inside the very private and historical Jackโs Tracks Recording Studio where cameras were never allowed. Not only hear about how “That Summer” was rewritten and rerecorded, but actually hear the two different master versions. And finally, be there, read about, and listen to the first time Trisha Yearwood sang on a ‘Garth’ song way before the first record.
The five CDs contain music that has never been heard, songs written long before the debut album, outtakes, first takes, demos, over 150 never before seen photos, sessions charts, tracking sheets, all in a 240 page hardcover complete package written by Garth Brooks. A total of 52 songs including 19 new, unreleased or demo versions are included across the CDs.
Brooks tells Billboard that the remaining four parts of the anthology will cover the last half of the โ90s, his live career, his comeback since coming out of retirement in 2014, and the hits โand what was going on in the world at that time and how the music affected that and how the world affected the music.โ No release date has been revealed for the remaining four volumes.
Brooks has also revealed that a documentary about the anthology is in the works. Each part will have its own two to two and a half hour documentary with the the first to be released in spring 2018. The final documentary will be a ten to twelve hour series chronicling his career.
Brooks will air a very special Inside Studio G on his Facebook page this Monday, October 2nd at 7 pm EDT. On the episode, he will share very personal details from the first five years of his career, along with special guests who were right there during those years and are featured in the anthology.
