In other news, Brooks has confirmed that he will be filming his Yankee Stadium show when he returns to New York City after nearly 20 years on Saturday, July 9th. The country superstar last played The Big Apple in August 1997 when he performed a free concert to nearly one million people in Central Park. The concert was telecast on HBO and later released as Garth Brooks Live From Central Park.

Director Jon Small, who filmed the Central Park and Live From Croke Park concerts, will be returning to helm this one. Brooks tells Nash Country Daily Editor in Chief Lisa Konicki and Managing Editor Jim Casey that this show will be different from any other show on the tour.

“It’s going to be a whole new show that is solely for Yankee Stadium. Putting that together now — the drawing boards are just starting to get started,” he tells Nash Country Daily. “The crazy thing is the way they got it set up, I think, we’re gonna be in Center Field, so it should be pretty cool. I think you get to look back toward Home Plate and it should be fun because that stadium is gorgeous.”

Fans attending Brooks’ shows during Independence Day weekend the week before will also be in for a special treat. In November, Brooks announced a series of shows at the new Las Vegas Arena that will be unique. Dubbed Garth in Vegas, Brooks has committed to making the Las Vegas shows a fan experience unlike any other on his world tour. He will create artistic components for his performances utilizing the Las Vegas Arena’s advanced production elements while taking advantage of the venue’s many entertainment spaces, highlighted by the adjacent two-acre Toshiba Plaza. Additionally, the entire Las Vegas resort community will support Brooks’ return through a schedule of specially created promotional events to be announced in the near future. While never stated, many fans assumed these shows would be filmed and televised due to their unique nature. However, with Brooks, nothing is impossible.

Tickets for the Yankee Stadium show — and any subsequent shows announced due to demand — go on sale Friday, May 20th at 10 am EDT. There will be an eight ticket limit per purchase. Tickets can only be purchased at ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks or either Ticketmaster Express 1-866-448-7849 or 1-800-745-3000. There will be no ticket sales at the venue box office or Ticketmaster outlets on May 20th.

Tickets will cost $69.23 plus a $4.50 facility fee and a $6.25 service charge for a total of $79.98.

Brooks is nearly two years into his Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood and just surpassed the four million ticket mark. The four millionth ticket was purchased in Grand Rapids, MI where Brooks began performing the first of six shows on Thursday night, May 12th at the Van Andel Arena.
