Mercedes-Benz Stadium officials have announced the first-ever concert featuring Garth Brooks with special guest Trisha Yearwood sold out in 67 minutes with over 73,000 tickets sold. The unique stage configuration will be a first for Brooks utilizing the one-of-a-kind halo board in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Brooks announced the October 12th show on June 22nd via Facebook Live with customized video in the stadium.

“We are thrilled to announce that we’ve sold out our inaugural show with Garth Brooks in Mercedes-Benz Stadium,” says Tim Zulawski, senior vice president and chief commercial officer, AMB Sports and Entertainment. “We are so proud to be able to bring the biggest show in the world to Atlanta.”

Brooks is also asking fans to Tweet what they want the opening song to be for the show.

“Tweet Us: When GARTH opens @MBStadium in Atlanta, I want his first song to be ____________. #GARTHatMBStadium,” his team writes.

We reached out to a rep with the stadium who could neither confirm nor deny additional shows would be added or if the concert would be filmed. We will have more details should they become available.

“This is gonna be cool. It’s gonna be the inaugural concert in there. Let me just tell you, I’m not trying to give it all away because I know the people at the stadium kinda want to let you know what’s going on,” he says. “Just get ready for a couple of things, man. Standing up here looking at this thing — You stand at that sky bridge and see what’s before you and you look back and see this beautiful shot of all of downtown. It’s gorgeous. It’ll be the heart of Atlanta. Very very cool. The second thing I can’t tell you about, the halo. I’m just saying, ask somebody about the halo. It changes everything about how you view the sporting event or concert.”

Garth Brooks broke barriers for country music by integrating the genre into mainstream culture in America and becoming the only artist in history to achieve Diamond status on seven albums. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is breaking the barriers of the typical venue experience by creating one unlike any stadium in the world.

Atlanta was the second stop on the Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood. In September 2014, Brooks performed seven consecutive shows at the Philips Arena, breaking his own personal record for tickets sold in the city.
