This would be the first duet project for the pair
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood fans hoping for their long-awaited duets album may get their wish this year. During a press conference before his Boston run of shows on the Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood at the TD Garden on January 22nd, Brooks confirmed the long-delayed project is still in the works as a Christmas album.
“We are trying to get it out this year,” he states when asked about the project.
However, Brooks does state that the Christmas duets album will be a precurser to a non holiday studio collaboration between the pair that they have been teasing for more than ten years.
“We’ll test the waters,” Brooks states. “It’ll be a duets album, but it will not be like what you’ve seen before. She’s got a lot of strong ideas.”
Yearwood also states the priority of the project is a front runner now that she and Brooks are on the same label, Sony Music Nashville, for the first time in their careers.
“We wanted to be on the same label because we thought it would be easier and more fun because we want to do duet records,” Yearwood said during a press event in Nashville about her new partnership with Sony. “We wanted to be able to do whatever we wanted and we’ve never been on the same record label, so it was kind of born out of looking to find a home that wanted to work with both of us, and Sony was that.”
Brooks states none of the music for either project has been recorded.
