Glastonbury 2021 canceled

Event was slated for Europe in summer 2021

Glastonbury 2021 has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers of the European music festival shared the news on Thursday (Jan 21st) saying all tickets from 2020 will be honored at next year’s event.

“With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us,” organizers share. “In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down.”

Those who secured a ticket in October 2019 for the 2020 show that was postponed due to the pandemic can roll their £50 deposit over to next year, and guarantee the chance to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2022.

Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift and Diana Ross were all confirmed for the 2020 edition which was set to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The 2022 festival takes place June 22nd-26th, but it’s unclear who the headliners will be at this time.

This is the second European music festival to be canceled already this year. Earlier this week, organizers of the 2021 C2C: Country to Country Festival in London, Dublin and Glasgow postponed the March event to 2022 due to travel and mass gathering restrictions throughout the world.
