Goose shares ‘Thatch’

The propulsive new single drops ahead of their new album

Goose has shared โ€œThatch,โ€ an eagerly awaited highlight from their much-anticipated fourth studio album, Everything Must Go, which arrives everywhere on April 25th via No Coincidence Records. A beloved fan favorite since it first appeared in the bandโ€™s always evolving live set in 2022, โ€œThatchโ€ demonstrates the bandโ€™s ability to play in multiple registers on the same track. While the song is a romp, lead singer, guitarist Rick Mitarotonda infuses the track with lyrics that are simultaneously propulsive and searching.

โ€œThere are always little ideas and melodies getting stowed away into voice memos on my phone. โ€˜Thatchโ€™ started as one of those,โ€ Mitarotonda says of the songโ€™s inception. โ€œIt was sitting around as an idea like that for a while, then came together relatively quickly during a transitional period in late 2022.โ€

With โ€œThatch,โ€ like many of the tracks on Everything Must Go, the band builds a lush world of sound to wrestle with the big questions — “Did you change your mind, or did it change you?”

โ€œWeโ€™re often surrounded in one way or another by voices that encourage us to fit in, and stay on beaten paths,โ€ Mitarotonda says. โ€œThe songโ€™s about believing in and staying committed to whatever strange and interesting ideas might be kicking around in us.โ€

Gooseโ€™s first new studio LP in nearly three years following 2022โ€™s critically acclaimed Dripfield, Everything Must Go marks both a statement of intent for Goose as well as an arrival of sorts โ€” a journey for fans and newcomers alike through the groupโ€™s past, present, and infinite future. Drawing from the feel of its live performances, the album features a carnivalesque cast of characters โ€” primarily songs written throughout the bandโ€™s recent years of growth, including re-imagined live staples and songs that capture the bandโ€™s evolving, dynamic sound. Produced once again by D. James Goodwin, Everything Must Go includes such extraordinary new tracks as the searching โ€œLead Upโ€ and euphoric first single, โ€œGive It Time,โ€ the latter accompanied by an official music video featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes explosive live performance footage that perfectly matches the songโ€™s message of strength derived from new beginnings.

Goose will celebrate the album with a momentous live run, highlighted by their first-ever headline show at New York Cityโ€™s world-famous Madison Square Garden this summer. The Everything Must Go Summer Tour begins May 27-28 with a two-night stand at San Francisco’s The Masonic. Other highlights include two-night stands at St. Louis’ The Factory and Cleveland, OHโ€™s Jacobs Pavilion, as well as a very special homecoming return to New Haven, CTโ€™s Westville Music Bowl non June 29th.

The trek represents some of the biggest headline shows in the bandโ€™s ten-year history as well as the latest additions to their constantly evolving live schedule for the coming year. In addition, Goose will host Viva El Gonzo, a three-day destination festival presented by 100x Hospitality and set for May 8-10 in San Josรฉ del Cabo, Mexico. The upcoming event will feature three consecutive nights of performances by Goose, along with sets from The War on Drugs, Tycho, Dawes, LP GIOBBI, LA LOM, and more. Limited tickets, TED VIP, and travel packages are available now.

Upcoming months will also see Goose making an array of top-billed festival appearances, including The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, BottleRock Napa Valley, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, All Good Now, and New York’s Mountain Jam.

In addition, Goose recently took their growing passion for experiential music events to unprecedented heights with Goose at Luna Luna: The Everything Must Go Experience, an exclusive one-night celebration of Everything Must Go held earlier this month at the visionary Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy exhibit at The Shed in New York City. Fans were transported into an otherworldly carnival of imagination, marking the lead-up to Everything Must Go with an evening that defied convention and left attendees in awe. Guests explored interactive soundscapes, a vinyl listening lounge, and a one-of-a-kind merch corner featuring event merchandise alongside thrifted and upcycled items hand-selected by the band. The evening was highlighted by a fully improvisational 75-minute set that was both daring and breathtaking. Brought vividly to life by their partnership with experiential creative Justin Bolognino and his company META, with Goose at Luna Luna: The Everything Must Go Experience, Goose affirmed their ability to push boundaries, creating a fully immersive art-inspired spectacle that has set a new standard for album release events.
