Both parts available exclusively through Oakland Coffee

Oakland Coffee Works has announced the release of a second limited edition 7-inch vinyl pressing with two tracks from Green Day’s 1994 BBC Radio 1 “Evening Session” performance. The vinyl is a companion record to Oakland Coffee’s Green Day BBC Sessions Part One 7-inch, which was released earlier this summer to great acclaim from Green Day fans and record collectors worldwide. This week’s release comes on the heels of Green Day’s first leg of their historic Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy, Weezer, and The Interrupters.

The never-before-released vinyl features high-quality recordings of “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around.” The recordings come on a unique purple vinyl, personally chosen by Green Day drummer, Tre Cool. The custom jacket artwork, for both Part One and Part Two, was created especially for this limited release by acclaimed artist Brian Viveros.

The BBC Sessions 7-inch vinyl will be available for purchase exclusively on OaklandCoffee.com. Current and new subscribers to Oakland Coffee’s recurring subscription club will receive first priority to purchase the vinyl starting September 15th.

“Oftentimes I think the BBC session recordings are better than the originals,” states Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and Co-Founder of Oakland Coffee.

The special edition 1994 BBC Sessions Part Two release is the third exclusive vinyl production by The Oakland Coffee House, following the release of Billie Joe Armstrong’s No Fun Mondays 7-inch record in late 2020. The Oakland Coffee House is a virtual community venue featuring content curated by Green Day and Oakland Coffee. The platform highlights artist performances, Green Day from-the-vault videos, and a myriad of content celebrating music, art, and community. The Oakland Coffee House has also been the host of exclusive content in tandem with Green Day’s Hella Mega tour.

Oakland Coffee was founded by the the band — Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt — in 2015, after a decade of searching for their favorite coffee beans and experimenting with roasting. The coffee is described as super smooth, but not bitter or acidic. The trio prides itself on setting a standard for compostability in coffee packaging. Oakland Coffee is the first coffee company to exclusively use fully certified compostable bags and pods that are made from plant-based materials, allowing it to be composted in an industrial composting facility, where available.
