Record Store Day is April 23rd

Grimeys New and Preloved Music in Nashville is ready to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Record Store Day 2022 on April 23rd with a mural honoring 2022 Record Store Day Global Ambassador Taylor Swift. Nashville artist Kim Radford recreated the RSD Ambassador image in support of her graciousness towards the store and its employees during the pandemic.

“I loved meeting her fans while I painted this piece at Grimeys and share about her unmatched generosity to the employees and owners of Nashvilles indie record store during the early months of the 2020 shutdown,” Radford writes. “Taylor reached out to cover paychecks & health benefits so the store could keep afloat. Isn’t she AWESOME?!?!? Thank you Taylor Swift & Taylor Nation for your music & kindness.”

“Thanks for helping us celebrate our Ambassador and our 15th year! It’s GLORIOUS!!” Record Store Day organizers share of the mural.

Radford tells us exclusively that it took about four days to complete as she worked around the weather.

This year’s independent record store vinyl fair returns to a regular single-day event following the launch of RSD Drops in 2020 which saw the releases spread out over three months to follow social distancing guidelines put forth during COVID-19. It continued for 2021 where The List was spread out over two months to avoid excessive gathering due to social distancing mandates. This year will include a designated RSD Drops date of June 18th for titles that won’t be ready by the April date.

On April 23rd, Swift will release a RSD exclusive 7-inch of “the lakes” and “the lakes (original version)” from her GRAMMY Album of the Year, folklore. This is the first time “the lakes (original version)” will be available on vinyl. Ten thousand will be pressed worldwide on gray vinyl.

Alice in Chains, David Bowie, Blondie, Chicago, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, Foo Fighters, The Grateful Dead, Metallica‘s Kirk Hammett, Joan Jett, Elton John, Judas Priest, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Santana, Slash, Ringo Starr, Pete Townshend, and U2 are among the artists releasing exclusive titles.
