The song appears on his third studio album available now
On the heels of releasing his third studio album, Eagle Feather, via Warner Music Nashville on April 18th, Ian Munsick is debuting the official music video for “Horses Not Hearts.” The song was written by Andy Albert, Michael Tyler and Ben Stennis, and debunks the common trope that often paints cowboys as heartbreakers on the run.
The music video, directed by Dustin Haney, was filmed across Sheridan, Wyoming and Decker, Montana. The video opens with renowned horse trainer and Munsickโs family friend Buck Brannaman, affectionately referred to as โThe Horse Whisperer,โ intertwining the transferable life lessons that come with the process of breaking a horse.
Throughout 3:49, the video conveys the passing of time in a relationship, panning between Brannaman and his wife, Mary, while starring Reata and Gabe Clark as the younger version of the couple, ultimately conveying the steadfastness of their love.
The โHorses Not Heartsโ music video follows the release of the official music video for “Feather In My Hat” featuring Lainey Wilson on April 18th.
For a good portion of 2024, Munsick was on the road with Wilson. While on the road, he cooked up the deeply personal and delicately poignant โFeather In My Hat.โ Munsick knew that if Wilson lent her vocals, it would give it another layer of emotional depth. After a show at New York Cityโs legendary Radio City Music Hall, Munsick asked Wilson if sheโd contribute her vocals. The answer was a resounding yes.
Eagle Feather was produced by Munsick, Jared Conrad and Jeremy Spillman, and features 20 tracks, including duets with Wilson and Flatland Cavalry lead singer Cleto Cordero, with songwriter credits by fellow singer/songwriters Caitlyn Smith and Stephen Wilson Jr. as well as two rare outside cuts in โDrink Aroundโ and โHorses Not Hearts.โ
Munsick debuted songs off the album at The Pinnacle in Nashville on Thursday, April 17th alongside surprise guests Cleto Cordero, Lainey Wilson, Stephen Wilson Jr. and Ryan Charles.
