Searchlight Pictures has partnered with ASU FIDM (ASU’s fashion school) for a special immersive exhibit, showcasing the costume designs from the highly anticipated A Complete Unknown from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker James Mangold and Academy Award-nominated costume designer Arianne Phillips. To immerse visitors into the world of the film, the exhibit will also feature physical props and enlarged backdrops of the set from production designer François Audouy. The exhibit will open on January 6, 2025, at ASU FIDM Museum in downtown Los Angeles and will be on display through January 17th.

New York, 1961. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. He forges intimate relationships with music icons of Greenwich Village on his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking and controversial performance that reverberates worldwide. Timothée Chalamet stars and sings as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown, the electric true story behind the rise of one of the most iconic singer-songwriters in history.

The exhibit will feature a stunning display of the early 1960s, encompassing the evolution of the young Bob Dylan to the icon he became. Visitors will have the opportunity to view Phillips’ meticulously crafted wardrobes, including pieces worn by Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, and key pieces from Chalamet’s Bob Dylan. Phillips’ exploration of Dylan’s iconic style evolution, from the precise cut of his Levi’s to the various jackets that defined his look, will be on full display as guests are offered a peek into the fashion that defined a generation.

ASU FIDM and Searchlight Pictures’ “A Complete Unknown” exhibit will be open to the public beginning Monday, January 6th through Friday, January 17th. Viewing hours are 10 am until 5 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 10 am until 7 pm on Thursday. The film will be released in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
