Jake Owen gets ‘Real Life’ on new single

Jake Owen is as real as it gets and earlier today (May 26th) made the exclusive world premiere of his highly anticipated new single, “Real Life,” across all iHeartMedia country stations. The power anthem, now available at iTunes, will play at the top of every hour through midnight local time across the country. In addition, all iHeartMedia Country station websites are now featuring the brand new official VEVO lyric video.

Written by award-winning songwriters Ross Copperman, Shane McAnally, Ashley Gorley and Josh Osborne, “Real Life” is a summer anthem with a substantial message buried beneath all that sand. With “Real Life,” Owen’s crafted the perfect mix of levity and honesty: real towns in the real world where “it ain’t all good, but it’s all right.” Delivered in a sing-talk style that’s a little modern day Roger Miller and a lot pure Owen, it’s laced with an electric, infectious melody that sets the tone for the album to come later this year on RCA Nashville. A tone that is playful, boundary-pushing and completely unforgettable.

“Everybody can put themselves in this song in one way or another,” Owen says. “And I’ve been dealing with a lot of real life circumstances lately: my father’s sickness, fatherhood, getting married. These are the things I wanted to sing about, and I know my fans can relate.”

With five #1 smashes – the 2X Platinum anthem “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” Platinum-certified hits “Beachin’,” “Anywhere with You,” “Alone with You” and “The One That Got Away,” it’s also the perfect next step from his critically-acclaimed single, “What We Ain’t Got.” Though it’s completely different sonically, it’s a natural progression: “‘What We Ain’t Got’ is about all the things we don’t have,” Owen says. “‘Real Life’ is about dealing with what you do.”

Last Friday (May 22nd), the go-to website Buzzfeed unveiled the “Real Life” single cover art in their signature feature “Tell Us About Yourself(ie)”. The throwback artwork was aptly captured at one of Nashville’s favorite retro burger joints – Bobbie’s Dairy Dip.

Fans can catch the dapper vocalist performing “Real Life” live on Kenny Chesney’s 2015 The Big Revival Tour throughout the summer.

Owen ascended to stardom with the release of his monumental Gold-certified, chart-topping Barefoot Blue Jean Night album, delivering the multi-week #1 smash “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” and selling more than 5 million tracks to date. Previously taking home ACA and ACM Awards, the Vero Beach, FL, native has earned GRAMMY and Teen Choice Awards nominations.
