“Hello Shitty Day” will be available on September 27th
Jake Worthington and Miranda Lambert have teamed up for “Hello Shitty Day, ” due on Friday, September 27th via Big Loud.
Written by Lambert alongside Dean Dillon, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Jesse Frasure, the song was born out of a moment of observation when Dean walked outside on a dreary day of a writing retreat, looked to the sky, and in earshot of Lambert said: “hello, shitty day.”
“Hello shitty day (hello, hello) / Glad you came my way / Brought all this pain and all of this rain / Washed my joy away / I was doin’ just fine
In this world of mine / Now the skies are all gray and all I can say is / Hello shitty day,” the chorus reads.
To Jake’s astonishment, Lambert sent the song directly to him for consideration. It was a resounding yes from Jake – as he reveres his fellow Texan as a living icon and songwriting force – and Lambert agreed to join him on the song.
A sought-after collaborator, the song with Lambert adds to a watershed year for Worthington including joining Reba McEntire on “Is It Cold In Here” featured on Hixtape: Vol. 3: Difftape, and the recent announcement of Brooks & Dunn collaboration “I’ll Never Forgive My Heart” on Reboot II.
Earlier this month, Lambert released her latest studio album, Postcards From Texas, via a new partnership with Big Loud Texas. The project features lead single “Wranglers,” the liberated anthem “Dammit Randy,” and others.
