The singer had been in the hospital recently
Jazz singer Al Jarreau has passed away at the age of 76. The seven-time Grammy winner had been hospitalized recently in Los Angeles and passed away on Sunday (Feb 12th). No cause of death has been revealed, but Jarreau had suffered from respiratory and cardiac issues in recent years.
“It is with the deepest of sadness to inform you Al Jarreau passed away this morning, at about 600am LA time. He was in the hospital, kept comfortable by his wife, son, and a few of his family and friends. A small, private service is planned, for immediate family only. No public service is planned yet this time,” his reps released in a statement.
Jarreau’s family is asking fans not to send flowers or gifts, but instead consider contributing to the Wisconsin Foundation for School Music, for those who want to contribute. It’s an organization that supports music opportunities, teachers and scholarships for students in Milwaukee and throughout the state.
Stars have taken to social media to express their condolences.
