Jewel has announced a 25th anniversary deluxe box set of her 1995 breakthrough album Pieces of You for November 20th via Craft Recordings. This special 25th anniversary limited edition reissue will be available on 4 CD, 4 LP and Deluxe 2 CD comprised of the complete original album, newly remastered, plus B-sides, rarities, demos and outtakes, as well as live material recorded at the Inner Change Coffeehouse in San Diego in 1994 that led to a record label bidding war. The set also includes expansive new liner notes, photographs and never before seen content.
In celebration, Jewel will perform the album in its entirety for a special livestream on November 20th.
“Shockingly, I’ve never sung this album in its entirety, so I thought it would be really fun. Because we can’t tour and in person shows right now due to the ‘Rona, i thought I’d do a 25th anniversary show for us all online. In some ways i think this is even better, because everyone all over the world can join! I will do this live show at the Sheridan Opera House because I want it to look good and not like a zoom call,” she shares in a post on her website.
“I am getting kind of artsy, designing a back drop that I am building and sewing together with my friends here. I am hiring a great production team to film it so it has multiple angles and so you feel like you’re there… Steve Poltz is flying out and quarantining and going to perform with me! This means so much to me, as he has been in my musical life since I was 18, before I got signed. He played guitar in the studio for that album when I was too nervous to play for myself. We wrote songs and toured all over the world together. So I knew he needed to be part of this show. And I am working hard to learn all those damn alternate tunings and 6 minute long songs…. I may never do a show like this, of this album in its entirety again, so don’t miss it.”
Fans who pre-order a deluxe edition of the album through her webstore will get a free ticket to the livestream. Fans can also purchase a ticket on its own, or with the poster featuring a hand drawing she passed out as a flier to the Inner Change show.
The album dominated the charts with “Who Will Save Your Soul,” “You Were Meant For Me” and “Foolish Games,” and went on to sell more than 12 million copies, making it one of the best-selling debut albums of all time.
