The clip explores a post-apocalyptic Atlanta
Atlanta rapper J.I.D has released the official music video for new single, “WRK.” Directed by Chad Tennies (Resolve) and produced by Satin Heart, the video explores a post-apocalyptic Atlanta where imagery of artifacts and music equipment are rounded up to be burned. Inspired by movies like The Warriors and Mad Max, J.I.D love for films continues to inspire his creative visual world with this video.
The video comes a week after J.I.D’s recently announced album, his fourth studio album. The dynamically named project, God Does Like Ugly, will be released this summer on August 8th.
“Starting this new journey coming off The Forever Story has been a very strange, productive yet tedious process, but I live my life by the saying โYou can only control what you can control.โ So this is the first step into a new world that I control. And. Itโs. F*cking. UGLY,” JID says.
The song which was produced by Grammy winning producer Pluss and longtime collaborator Christo. It centers J.I.Dโs signature double time bars, infectious word plays and vocal changes that keeps the listener hooked for the length of the three-minute track.
Though the Atlanta rapper has stayed busy with sold out tours and collaborations with Lil Yachty, Ab-Soul, NewJeans, Eminem and more โ โWRKโ is the first solo cut from J.I.D since the release of his critically acclaimed album, The Forever Story was released in 2022 via Dreamville/Interscope Records. Almost a year after its release, a cut from the record โ the infectious track โSurround Soundโ โ soar to viral acclaim with its own TikTok challenge and ended the year in the No. 1 position across Billboard Viral 50, TikTok Viral and TikTok 50. The song featuring Atlanta natives 21 Savage and Baby Tate re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 2024 and went onto be triple platinum certified.
