Joe Diffie tests positive for coronavirus

Diffie issues statement about COVID-19 diagnosis

GRAMMY-winning country music legend Joe Diffie has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). He announced the news on Friday (March 27th) stating he’s being treated for the virus.

“I am under the care of medical professionals and currently receiving treatment,” Diffie shares in a press release. “My family and I are asking for privacy at this time. We want to remind the public and all my fans to be vigilant, cautious and careful during this pandemic.”

Diffie joins Jackson Browne and Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan as some of the musicians who’ve contracted the virus. Every major concert, festival and event have either been postponed or canceled due to the pandemic the World Health Organization (WHO) declared two weeks ago. Nearly 600k cases have been reported in 110 countries with more than 26k deaths and those numbers growing daily. More than 132k people have contracted and recovered from the virus that was discovered last year, forcing much of the world to shut down or reduce hours.

Every hour seems to bring different ideas around the country. Several states have issued “Stay at Home” orders with others quickly following. Only essential businesses, such as grocery stores, banks and gas stations, remain open in those states until further notice. Schools are out for at least a month, but possibly through the end of the school year. International travel has also been restricted until further notice to help combat the rapid spread of the deadly virus that originated in Wuhan, China. The US now leads the world the most cases as it nears 100k.

CMA and GRAMMY-winning country music legend Joe Diffie continues to be celebrated in hit song homages from Jason Aldean (“1994”) to Chris Young (“Raised On Country”), with a reign that includes 13 albums and more than 20 Top 10 hits to his credit. As one of the most successful singer/songwriters of the 1990’s, Diffie has also penned hits for artists like Tim McGraw, Conway Twitty, and Jo Dee Messina. A Tulsa native, his chart-dominating iconic songs include: “Home,” “If The Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets),” “New Way (To Light Up An Old Flame),” “Ships That Don’t Come In,” “Honky Tonk Attitude,” “Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox,” “John Deere Green,” “Third Rock From The Sun,” “Pickup Man,” “So Help Me Girl,” “Bigger Than The Beatles,” “Texas Size Heartache,” “A Night To Remember,” “It’s Always Somethin’” and many more. Recently, he released Joe, Joe, Joe Diffie!, his first-ever vinyl LP. The Oklahoma Music Hall of Famer also celebrated a pinnacle career milestone of more than 25 years as a member of the historic Grand Ole Opry.
