John Fogerty brings CCR catalog Celebration to Vegas

The former Creedence frontman is back on the road in 2025

Proud Fogerty, keep on burning. The Credence Clearwater Revival frontman and legendary songwriter John Fogerty is continuing his Celebration Tour into 2025. His three-show stop at the Encore Theater inside Wynn Las Vegas concluded Saturday night (Jan 25th).

The multi-year tour celebrates Fogerty winning the battle to own the publishing of his CCR songs. And his pride in reclaiming his artistry after all these years is evident in every note he played in Vegas. Of course, it helps that Encore Theater has made a name for itself among fans and artists as one of the most sonically desirable venues in Vegas.

Silhouetted by a moon projected behind him, Fogerty took the stage wearing a black blazer, red flannel shirt, and signature neckerchief tied to the left. Opening with the catchy tunes “Bad Moon Rising” and “Up Around the Bend,” Fogerty had the crowd in the intimate room on their feet from the jump. From there he effortlessly transitioned to the funky “Green River.”

Fogerty is joined on this tour by his two guitarist sons, making the most of a family affair. The pair featured with Dad on “Joy of My Life,” a song for the elder Fogerty’s wife of 33 years. His son Tyler sang lead on the deep cut “Fight Fire.” How deep? The song was written when Creedence was called the Golliwogs.

Fogerty also told stories about CCR songs, such as showcasing and then playing the guitar on which he wrote “Who’ll Stop the Rain.” The often-rowdy crowd (shouts of “We love you, Johnny” permeated during downtime) sat rapt as he shared history from one of rock’s most storied bands.

Vocally, John Fogerty has the same grit and eager tone as he did 50 years ago. Even on slower songs, his is a voice of pure joy that embodies the honesty of real rock and roll.

Fogerty was so enveloped in the music—his music—that it was almost as if it were 1969 and Creedence were on stage again. Indeed, Fogerty is the embodiment and keeper of the CCR legacy. And that’s a fact he should celebrate as long as he wants.
