Song is first from forthcoming eighth studio album

John Legend has released the video for “Dope,” the first song from his forthcoming new album. The Christian Breslauer-directed video takes place at a soulful, eclectic retro house party, where Legend performs and parties with friends – including rapper JID who is also featured on the track — into the wee hours of the morning.

“Dope” was produced by Ian Kirkpatrick and Ryan Tedder and co-written by Legend, Charlie Puth, Tedder, and JID.

The EGOT artist first shared part of “Dope” on the iHeart Awards, where he did a special fan-favorite dueling piano performance with Puth. The track is the first release from Legend’s forthcoming album, his first with new label partner Republic Records, following the release of his latest GRAMMY Award winner for Best R&B Album, Bigger Love.

Legend has been teasing “Dope” during his critically acclaimed, sold out first run of his new Vegas Residency, Love in Las Vegas. Upcoming dates of the residency are August 5-20 and October 14-29.

Legend will perform two very special shows at The Royal Albert Hall August 5-6, 2023. A second night was added after huge demand saw the original date sell out.

In July, Legend will hit the stage at London’s iconic Somerset House for a sold out show, as part of the venue’s Summer Series.
