Bieber is suffering from a rare syndrome

Justin Bieber is officially resuming his Justice World Tour at Lucca Festival in Italy on July 31st. The pop star shared the news today (Tues, July 19th) on social media.

“Justin Bieber announced today The Justice World Tour will resume at Lucca Festival, Italy on July 31st,” the statement reads.

“Justin will set off across a run of European festivals and continue on his international world tour performances in South America, South Africa, The Middle East, Asia, Australia & New Zealand then back to Europe in 2023.

Dates are currently scheduled through May 25, 2023 in Europe.

“Details of Justin’s postponed US shows will be announced soon,” the statement concludes after Bieber postponed June and July North American shows last month, due to his recent diagnosis with facial paralysis.

“In light of Justin’s ongoing recovery, the remaining US Justice Tour shows scheduled for June and early July will be postponed,” a message on the tour’s Instagram page reads. “Justin continues to receive the best medical care possible, is upbeat about his recovery, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road and performing for his fans overseas later this summer.”

In May, the pop star shared he has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS), a rare neurological disorder characterized by paralysis of the facial nerve, or facial palsy, and a rash affecting the ear or mouth.

“So for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious. As you can see. I wish this wasn’t the cause, but obviously my body is telling me I have to slow down,” he says in an Instagram video.

“I’m gonna get better and I’m doing all of these face exercises to get my face back to normal. It will go back to normal. It’s just time, and we don’t know how much time that’s gonna be, but it’s gonna be okay. And I have hope, and I trust God, and I trust that this is all for a reason. I’m not sure what that is right now, but in the meantime, I’m gonna rest and I love you guys.”

Ear abnormalities such as tinnitus and hearing loss may also be present. RHS is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox in children and shingles in adults. In cases of Ramsay Hunt syndrome, previously inactive (dormant) varicella-zoster virus is reactivated and spreads to affect the facial nerve.
