Kanye West surprise releases gospel album

Emmanuel features his Sunday Service Choir

Kanye West surprise released Emmanuel, a gospel album, on Christmas Day with his gospel choir Sunday Service Choir via Def Jam Recordings. The new project arrives as a “celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ,” just like last year’s Jesus Is Born that debut at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. West executive produced and composed the EP’s five ancient and Latin-inspired tracks.

Emmanuel is available via Spotify and Apple MusicEmmanuel means “God is with us.”

West has focused more on his Christian faith in recent years. Besides the gospel albums, he’s also hosted Sunday Service at Coachella and near his Calabasas home.

West has been named twice by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, he has sold over 35 million albums and over 85 million digital tracks worldwide. Over the course of his legendary career, he has released seven consecutive No. 1 albums and seven No. 1 singles, along with scores of radio hits and millions of concert tickets sold worldwide.
