As 2014 comes to a close, Katy Perry is #1 across a multitude of platforms. She’s the #1 female artist on Spotify globally with 651 million artist streams. The official video for “Dark Horse” (feat. Juicy J.) is #1 on YouTube’s Top Trending Music Videos of 2014 global playlist, dominating the competition with more than 715 million views since its February 2014 premiere. The clip was also the most viewed on VEVO worldwide in 2014. Perry led VEVO’s fan-voted Hot This Year 2014 awards with wins in four categories: “Dark Horse” took top honors for Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Certified Video while “Birthday” was named Best Lyric Video.
At radio, Perry is the only artist to win the coveted #1 Most Played artist honors at three different formats in 2014: Top 40, Hot AC and AC, according to Mediabase, which also reports that “Dark Horse” was the #1 Most Played song at Top 40 radio.
The global superstar has been tapped to headline the Pepsi Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show airing worldwide on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Her quadruple Platinum album Prism (Capitol Records) – which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October 2013 and has hit No. 1 on iTunes in more than 100 countries – is nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Pop Vocal Album while the 8x multi-Platinum single “Dark Horse” (feat. Juicy J) is up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
She recently won three American Music Awards: Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Single of the Year for “Dark Horse.” The official video for “Dark Horse” won the 2014 MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video, and was named Best Video at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards. Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour continues to be a hugely successful global spectacle, with 17 sold out arenas in the UK, 66 sold out arenas in North America and 25 sold out arenas in Australia/New Zealand in 2014. Her final two shows of 2014 – December 12th and 13th in Sydney, Australia – will be filmed for an upcoming concert movie. The tour continues in 2015 throughout Europe, Asia and South America where Perry will headline Rock In Rio in Brazil on September 25th.
