Shows will continue without him

Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer will be sitting out several shows due to a positive COVID test. The band shared the news in a statement on Thursday (Sept 9th).

“Unfortunately, Munky has tested positive for COVID,” KORN writes on social media. “He is doing OK, but he will not be playing some of our upcoming shows. The tour is going on as scheduled despite these circumstances, and we are anticipating a speedy recovery. We’ll see you tonight, Utah.”

Less than a month ago, the band was forced to postpone or cancel several dates due to frontman Jonathan Davis contracting the viral disease.

Davis addressed his COVID battle during a show in Pennsylvania on September 3rd.

“It feels so good to be back, y’all. Some of you might know, some of you don’t, but I’m recovering. I got COVID, and that shit kicked my motherfucking ass. But I decided I’m not gonna fucking cancel…” he states from the stage. “So I might be standing up, I might be sitting in my chair, but I’m gonna give you a hundred motherfucking percent. So let’s scream and have a good motherfucking time tonight.”

Tesla, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foo Fighters, Buckcherry and Mammoth WVH are among the countless acts who’ve been forced to sideline shows this summer due to the virus affecting a member of their touring camps.

Several festivals have been postponed due to the surge of cases across the nation. Organizers of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam postponed their festivals last month. Others, such as Bonnaroo, Coachella and Stagecoach, will require proof of vaccination or negative test before ticketholders will be allowed to enter the venues.

Live Nation, AEG Presents and Danny Wimmer Presents are also requiring proof of vaccination or negative COVID test before entering its venues, festivals or offices starting this fall.
