Singer cancels planned acoustic performance

Lauren Alaina has been forced to cancel an appearance Saturday night due to contracting COVID-19. The country singer was scheduled to appear at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY for an acoustic performance with Jon Pardi, Jordan Davis, Travis Denning and Priscilla Block. The show is part of a series of shows hosted by radio stations WAMZ and WBUL.

“I am so sad to say I will not be at the acoustic show in Lexington, Kentucky tonight,” she shares on social media. “I tested positive for COVID yesterday. I am quarantining and trying to get better! Please know I can’t wait to get back – when it is safe for all of us. I’m so disappointed I won’t be at the show, but it may help cheer me up a bit if you go and send me videos and pictures. Please go to the show tonight and celebrate my friends Jon Pardi, Jordan Davis, Travis Denning and Priscilla Block.”

The show requires masks and social distancing. It’s the second in what appears to be a series of acoustic concerts the stations are hosting that began in January.

Last month, Alaina released her latest single “Getting Over Him” featuring labelmate Jon Pardi to country radio. Written by Lauren with Paul Giovanni and Emily Weisband, “Getting Over Him” follows Alaina’s recent Top 30 hit “Getting Good” and it serves as the title track for the star’s September 2020 EP.
