Lewis Capaldi scores second No. 1 UK album

Album was released May 19th

Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi scores his second Official Albums Chart No. 1 with his latest album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent. The album has become the fastest-selling album of 2023 and has not only surpassed the opening week sales of any other album this year, but has also sold more copies than the rest of the Official Albums Chart Top 10 combined.

“Thank you very much if you went out there and got the album this week,” Capaldi shares. “Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent is No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart. Beautiful stuff! Thank you everybody, I love you so much. Fastest-selling album of the year…it feels good! Thanks very much, guys – I’ll see you out there. Lots of shows, lots of smiles, lots of high fives. It means the world, I love you so much.”

The BMG songwriter broke onto the scene in 2017 ahead of his debut studio album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which broke records and achieved multiple certifications including 5x Platinum in the UK. The single, “Someone You Loved” became the most streamed song of all time in the UK.

Prior to the album release, Capaldi released three No. 1 singles including debut single, “Forget Me,” “Pointless,” and “Wish You The Best” in April 2023. The multi-talented artist also released his BMG-commissioned Netflix documentary, Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now, on April 5th to wide acclaim.

Capaldi continues his world tour through October 7th.
