Lewis Capaldi has released his latest single “Forget Me.” Capaldi sent a letter to the media personally explaining the inspiration behind the new song.
“Hello, it’s me, Scottish singer-songwriter, chubby popstar and toilet humour enthusiast, Lewis Capaldi here,” he shares.
He continues, “I thought I’d save you the trouble of reading through another press release from a PR company telling you how wonderful I am, reeling off all my album sales, awards, records I’ve broken, and how you should be excited for my new single, and just do it myself.
“I’m back. My new single is called ‘Forget Me,’ and let’s just be honest here, lyrically it covers a lot of the same ground as before. I meet lady, lady leaves me, I whine about it in a pop song. Textbook.
“After I was able to finally fucking move out of my parents house in 2020 after the success of “Someone You Loved” and ‘Before You Go,’ I thought it’d be wise to ring up my pals TMS again and see if they fancied writing some more tunes after I realized I’m contractually obligated to make more music for a large corporation. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
“It’s a wee bit more upbeat than my previous numbers, mostly because after touring the world, I noticed that my lesser known slower tracks were making some of the crowds look like they were about to fall asleep out of sheer boredom. However, this new one is sad AND fast, much like my love making. Not to worry, I’ve still got plenty of depressing ballads up my sleeve. More on that another time…

“‘Forget Me’ is a song that’s so dear to my heart and I definitely feel like it’s my best tune yet. It’s about a break up I went through where after a year, the only real contact I had with my ex was seeing her ‘post-me’ life play out on her Instagram. I was at a point where I was feeling pretty miserable and she seemed like she was moving on and having the best time, thriving, and I hated it. It seemed unfair to me that she appeared happy while I was hurting, and I was fearful she might have forgotten about me completely, so I wrote a song about it.
“I won’t keep ye too much longer. All joking aside, I’m really excited to be back and get this song out there. I won’t lie though, I’m absolutely shitting it too, so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out this time. It could be the beginning of a beautiful chapter in my life, OR the very public downward spiral that, let’s face it, I’m probably due.
“I hope you like the song. If not, that’s fine too, but come on to fuck, I’ve heard some of the shite that’s been big over the last few years and it’s got to be a wee bit better than some of that.

The 25 year old singer/songwriter recently shared on Instagram Live that he’s been diagnosed with Tourettes.
“I have Tourette’s, I’ve always had it, apparently,” he states. “I do the shoulder twitch quite a lot. And you see underneath every TikTok and stuff, people are like, ‘why is he twitching?’, which is fine. Curiosity is fine. Do you think before performing [in front of] 20,000 people, as an anxious person, I’m going to take a big line of cocaine? Never going to happen.”
Capaldi has received over 25 billion global streams and claimed the Biggest Streamed Week One Debut Album of All Time with Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent. The album is also spent the longest consecutive weeks in the Top 10 UK album chart with 77 weeks. He achieved back to back No. 1’s in the US and UK with “Someone You Loved” and “Before You Go.”
