New film will premiere next year

Reba McEntire is starring in Reba McEntire’s The Hammer, a made-for-TV movie premiering on Lifetime next year. The country star will reunite with her Reba sitcom co-star Melissa Peterman in the film inspired by the life of traveling Nevada circuit judge Kim Wanker.

McEntire will play Kim Wheeler, “an outspoken, firecracker lawyer who is appointed Judge of the 5th District of Nevada, and is one of the few traveling judges left in America.”

“After the reigning judge passes away under suspicious circumstances, Kim finds herself covering a circuit that stretches between Las Vegas and Reno – a rugged, often desolate area where anything and everything can happen. With gavel in hand, she lays down the law with a no-nonsense brand of justice that quickly earns her the nickname ‘The Hammer.’ As the investigation of the former judge’s death heats up, Kim’s sister Kris (Peterman), who runs the local brothel, suddenly becomes the prime suspect, and Kim must work even harder to make certain the appropriate justice is served,” Lifetime shares.

The film also stars McEntire’s boyfriend Rex Linn as Bart Crawford, a mysterious cowboy with unknown motives, and Kay Shioma Metchie as Vicky, the tough talking bailiff who serves as Kim’s right hand and trusted friend.

McEntire is executive producing the project with a premiere date set for sometime in 2023.

The movie is part of a two-film deal McEntire struck with the network last spring. Reba McEntire’s Christmas In Tune was released during the last holiday season which was a tentpole movie for the network’s annual holiday slate, It’s a Wonderful Lifetime. Christmas in Tune also included an original holiday song by McEntire.

This fall, McEntire can also be seen as a series regular in season three of the David E. Kelley’s Big Sky on ABC. The country star will play villain Sunny Barnes in the drama series who is a mercurial matriarch of the Brick Family, a successful backcountry outfitter with a secret history of missing customers.

She will also be hitting the road again as her 2022 arena tour continues starting October 13th in Lafayette, LA. With 35 No. 1 hits under her belt, the award-winning entertainer will deliver hit after hit during her entertaining live show. Presented by Live Nation, the 17-city tour will feature special guest Terri Clark across all shows.
