Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus celebrate 19 weeks with No 1

The duo’s “Old Town Road” has spent the past 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Genre Chart

Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus are celebrating 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Genre chart with “Old Town Road.” The remix, featuring Cyrus, also happens to be the only country artist nominated for the upcoming MTV VMA Awards, with seven nominations.

“Thank you everybody! This is YOUR song! YOU took this song to the top and kept it there,” Cyrus shares.

The global superstar’s hot streak continues with the announcement that he’s co-hosting the 2019 Canadian Country Music Awards September 8th. Recently, Cyrus released his new single, “Chevys and Fords,” with fellow BBR Music Group/BMG artist Johnny McGuire.

On August 26th, Cyrus will attend the MTV VMA Awards where he and Lil Nas X are are nominated for “Video of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Best Collaboration,” “Best Hip Hop Song,” “Best Direction,” “Best Editing” and “Best Art Direction.”

“Old Town Road,” released via Columbia Records, has shattered records by leading Streaming Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for at least 17 weeks each. The duo have surpassed records broken by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” at 16 weeks in December 1995, Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk!” at 14 in January 2015, and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” at 14 in November 1992, among others.

The cultural phenomenon that is “Old Town Road” has achieved RIAA diamond status of more than ten million units. The star-studded music video for the track has exceeded 230 million views since released in May. Recently, Lionsgate unleashed a trailer featuring “Old Town Road” to promote the September 20th release of Rambo: Last Blood starring Sylvester Stallone.
