Little Big Town talks ‘Pain Killer’ with Walmart Soundcheck

Critically acclaimed Platinum-selling group Little Big Town continue the groove from the last album, Tornado, with their sixth album, Pain Killer, released on October 21st. The band calls it “bold” and “aggressive,” but it’s still all about a good time.

Eager to give fans a brand new taste of their record, the foursome — Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet — sit down and get intimate about the album with Walmart Soundcheck.

“It’s aggressive. It’s bold. It’s brave. It has its own personality, this record did,” Fairchild states. “I mean, we wrestled it to the ground. We were ready to make a new record when we finished Tornado. We kinda felt like we were in such a good groove with producer Jay Joyce.”

During the first of three LBT Soundcheck episodes, the group discusses and performs its latest single, “Day Drinking.”

“We kinda felt like we were in such a good groove with producer Jay Joyce.”

“The inspiration behind ‘Day Drinking’…” Sweet states before Fairchild interjects, “Was having a good time.”

“You know, it’s one of those fun moments, and it was one of the first things we wrote,” Westbrook claims. “And after we got the work tape back that day, we’re like, ‘Man, that can be a single.'”

You can sample the first episode below. Be sure to visit Walmart Soundcheck to see the entire video including an exclusive performance of “Day Drinking.”

The second and third episodes are set to be available on October 28th and November 4th, respectively.

Fans who watch the performance have a chance to win an autographed guitar from the group.
