Refunds are available at point of purchase
Live Nation Entertainment has officially canceled Linkin Park’s upcoming One More Light World Tour, following frontman Chetser Bennington’s suicide on Thursday (July 20th).
“We are incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of Chester Bennington,” the company says in a statement. “The Linkin Park One More Light North American Tour has been canceled and refunds are available at point of purchase. Our thoughts go out to all those affected.”
The tour was set to launch next week in Boston with Machine Gun Kelly as support. Dates were scheduled through late October. The tour was in support of the band’s highly anticipated seventh studio album, One More Light, that was released on May 19th via Warner Bros. Records.
The 41 year old Bennington was found dead at his home in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County Thursday morning by hanging. The singer had just arrived back home the night before from a trip with his wife in Arizona. His body was found hours before Linkin Park were set for a photo shoot that day, but most likely after the group released the “Talking To Myself” music video earlier that morning.
In an eerie sense of events, Bennington was found nearly the same way his good friend Chris Cornell was found in a Detroit hotel room in May after Cornell hung himself. July 20th would’ve also been Cornell’s 53rd birthday. Both men had suffered from drug and alcohol abuse.
Seether’s 5th Annual Rise Above Fest will honor both Bennington and Cornell this weekend. Rise Above Fest, the largest suicide awareness event in the world, takes place Saturday, July 22nd and Sunday, July 23rd at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine and features performances by Korn, Shinedown, Stone Sour, Skillet, Halestorm, Falling in Reverse, and more.
