Lorde ‘Solar Power’ tops worldwide charts

First-of-its-kind eco-conscious diskless box deem ineligible by Billboard

GRAMMY Award-winning multiplatinum-selling artist Kirde has clenched top charting positions across the globe with the release of her highly-anticipated third studio album Solar Power. The album hit No. 1 in over 58 countries on Apple Music upon release and landed the artist her third No. 1 album in both Australia and New Zealand. The album debuted at No. 2 in the UK, making Solar Power her highest charting album in the UK to date. The album gives the pop star her highest charting album of her career in several additional markets including peak debuts in Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. Solar Power became the No. 1 selling album in Canada debuting at No. 1 on the Album Sales chart and No. 6 in consumption on the Billboard chart. In the US, Solar Power gives Lorde her third top five album debut with a No. 3 debut on the Rolling Stone Top 200 Album Chart. The album additionally debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart despite Billboard disqualifying Lorde’s CD alternative offering from counting towards the chart position.

The first-of-its kind, eco-conscious, diskless Music Box was made available in lieu of the high environmental impact CD. This innovative offering contains some of those special extras that fans might normally receive in a CD packet, such as visual content, handwritten notes, exclusive photos, and a download card. The card gives purchasers a high-quality download of the music, two exclusive bonus tracks, and access to some special surprises along the way.

To celebrate the release of her album, Lorde headlined the GMA Summer Concert Series. The artist performed tracks from the album to a COVID safe crowd at GMA’s first in-person Central Park show in nearly two years. She then joined The Late Late Show with James Corden for a week-long residency where she performed and chatted across each night.

Solar Power, which includes 12 tracks and is co-produced by Jack Antonoff, has since garnered widespread critical acclaim.

Lorde will take her chart-topping album on the road when she heads out on her previously announced 2022 World tour. The sold out 40+ show tour, promoted by AEG Presents in the US and Canada, is her first North American tour since 2018 and kicks off in North America in Nashville on April 3rd at the Grand Ole Opry House before concluding at the Santa Barbara Bowl on May 7th.
