Lovepop creates 3D pop up cards for BBMAs

Dick Clark Productions has teamed with Lovepop to create original 3D popup cards to reveal the 2017 Billboard Music Awards winners during the awards ceremony. Each card will be one-of-a-kind paper art, designed exclusively for the winning artist and unveiled by the award presenter. This special card reveal will replace the traditional envelope opening.

Lovepop, a maker of hand-crafted, intricately designed cards, is best known for its 3D paper sculptures. After appearing on ABC’s Shark Tank in late 2015, Creators Wombi Rose and John Wise—along with the guidance of businessman and Shark Tank’s Mr. Wonderful, Kevin O’Leary—went on to launch a thriving business providing customers with artistic greetings that create an emotional and personal connection between two people.

In advance of the awards show, Lovepop, the Billboard Music Awards and Lovepop investor Kevin O’Leary invited ABC’s Shark Tank cameras back into the design studio to get an insider’s look at the process of drafting, sketching and prototyping the 2017 Billboard Music Award winner cards. Shark Tank will show a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the 2017 Billboard Music Awards cards on Friday, May 5th at 9 pm ET/PT on ABC. The finished designs will be revealed for the first time to artists and fans during the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, broadcast live on Sunday, May 21st at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT on ABC.

Lovepop is an imagination and engineering company that adds meaning to people’s lives. Co-founders Wombi Rose and John Wise are former ship designers who adapted their craft to paper engineer laser-cut 3D cards. The pair launched Lovepop in 2014, then appeared on the 2015 holiday episode of Shark Tank where they landed an investment from Kevin O’Leary. With more than 200 3D cards to choose from, Lovepop has the perfect design for that special person in your life.

The 2017 Billboard Music Awards are set to return to ABC and will be broadcast live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 21st at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT. The show will showcase this year’s hottest and biggest music stars. Billboard Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on the reporting period of March 18, 2016 through March 16, 2017.

Voting for the Billboard Chart Achievement Award Presented by Xfinity and Top Social Artist at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards is now open. These are the only fan-voted categories at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. Fans can vote up to 100 times a day per award, per the voting site and Twitter.
