Fastest Debut Country Album To Platinum Since Chris Stapleton’s Traveller

River House Artists/Columbia Nashville Country superstar Luke Combs achieves platinum certification by the RIAA for his critically-acclaimed debut album This One’s For You, surpassing one billion career streams globally. The career breakthrough was announced by Stephen Colbert, the standout host of CBS’ Late Show With Stephen Colbert, before Combs’ heart-wrenching performance of “One Number Away” Tuesday night (July 24th).

This One’s For You is the fastest debut country album to receive the platinum crown since Chris Stapleton’s Traveller in 2015, reaching the newly-minted milestone in a break-neck 58 weeks since first releasing June 2, 2017. In the past year since his debut release, Combs has accomplished unparalleled success with three consecutive No. 1 singles at country radio – 2x platinum “Hurricane,” platinum “When It Rains It Pours,” and gold “One Number Away.” The favored son of Asheville, NC, reigned atop the Billboard Country Albums Chart for seven weeks and remains the most streamed country album of 2018.

Since the release, the album and Combs have received mass critical acclaim with praise from Billboard, Rolling Stone, NPR, Vulture, and the New York Times, which praised the singer-songwriter for his “solidity and gravelly voice.”

Driven by a personal commitment to “give the fans what they want,” Combs chose the newly-recorded version of long-time, fan favorite “She Got the Best of Me” as his fourth single to country radio from his recently released deluxe album. The song, which will debut on July 30th on ABC’s Good Morning America, is a nod to Combs’ early fans and the then unknown songwriters who teamed up with him before there were sold-out crowds and chart-topping success. With more than 45 million streams to date, “She Got the Best of Me” earned most added song at country radio when it was released on July 9th.

The single is one of five songs added to Combs’ 12 track now platinum release This One’s For You. Dubbed, This One’s For You Too, the expanded, 17-track collection was a direct response to fans’ demand for new music – many of which he has played on the road, were viral discoveries, or performed on social media straight out of songwriting sessions.

This summer Combs continues to deliver new music direct to the fans as part of ACM Entertainer of the Year Jason Aldean’s cross-country High Noon Neon Tour.
